
1952/57 Renault R4231 Trolleybus (EMT Madrid)
The
trolleybus operation in Madrid was started in April 1950 on route 1 El
Viso-Puerta del Sol. First trolleybuses were supplied by French company
Jacquemond. Three additional routes were opened soon. In 1957 some of
the surviving Renault R4210 and Renault R4231 buses were converted to
trolleybuses in addition to 14 new 3-axle Vetra VA3-B2s,acquired in mid-50s.
The last new trolleybus routes were opened in 1961 but in 1966 the whole
system was converted to diesel buses.
