USA1941 St.Louis Public Service St.-Louis Car Co PCC (Job 1631; 1600-1699 series)

Satisfied with its first 100 PCCs of 1500-series St.Louis Public Service ordered 100 more cars in December 1940. The whole batch, numbered 1600-1699, was delivered by the August 1941. They had the standee windows and the "next car" light on the dash. As in 1500-series, fifty cars (1600-1649) had the General Electric equipment while remaining fifty had the Westinghouse equipment. Starting from late 40s 1600-series cars were modified to make them comparable to the 1700-series and most of the cars looks almost identical to 1700s at the end of its life. Five cars (1629,1654,1656,1686 and 1699) were sold to Tampico, Mexico in 1966 and 45 cars of 1600-series remained in service at end of the streetcar operation in May 1966.

"Stock" version of this model represents the original 1941 "as delivered" red/ivory livery.

USA1941 St.-Louis Public Service St.-Louis Car Co. PCC (Job 1631; 1600-1699 series) - modified post-48 version, NCL red/ivory/white livery

In the mid-40s the upper beltrail on 1600-series PCCs was removed (probably because of the corrosion problems) and from late 40s the modernization program was started; all 1600s were modified as more as possible to match the 1700-series cars. However, they retain their original interior with two rows of double seats.

USA1946 St.-Louis Public Service St.-Louis Car Co. PCC (Job 1655, 1700-1799 series)

Early in 1945 St.Louis Public Service Co. (acquired by National City Lines in 1944) ordered 100 PCC cars from St.Louis Car Co. Identical in many aspects to the 1600 series, built in 1941, the whole batch was delivered in the fall of 1946, numbered 1700-1799. When one the most important lines in the city, 40 Broadway was converted to buses in August 1956, many PCCs became the surplus. The very high level of the maintenance of the system has helped to sell the PCCs to other properties. In May 1957 sixty six 1700s were leased to the San Francisco Municipal Railway and they were finally purchased in 1963. 4 additional 1700s were sold to San Francisco in 1961. Ten 1700s were sold to Shaker Heights Rapid Transit in 1959 and 19 cars were sold to Tampico, Mexico in 1961-1964. Only car 1788 remained in St.Louis until the end of rail service in May 1966.

"Stock" version of this model represents the late 40s livery (with silver anticlimbers). "As delivered" version (with red anticlimbers and aluminum standee windows edging) available on order. Radio antenna is included within the model as separate part.
