Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board SW6-class Tram (940-969 series)-original

The
cars of the SW6-class were built by MMTB between 1939 and 1951 (120 cars)
and last thirty cars of this class were delivered between 1949 and 1951.
A distinctive feature introduced on these cars was dash canopy lighting
instead of the normal centre headlight. This innovation was not succesful
and all cars were returned to the regular headlight within 1950s. The
SW6 cars were used primarily on Swanston Street services.
