- original livery.
In
1936 Kansas City Public Service announced the plans to purchase 100 PCC

twenty-four cars were ordered in November 1940 at St.Louis Car Co. They
were delivered to the KSPS in 1941; sixteen cars (701-716) were GE-equipped
and remaining eight (717-724) had Westinghouse equipment. The streamliners
entered service in July 1941 on Troost Ave. line (route 50).

Kansas City Public Service St.Louis Car Co. PCC (Job 1628; 701-724 series)
- second paint scheme (Mid 1940s -early 1950s).
In
1944 the Kansas City Public Service introduced a second paint scheme on
their PCC cars, which was a modified version of the original livery, but
lookes much attractive. The post-war all-electric cars (725-799 series),
delivered in 1946-47, also had this livery. In the early post-war years
the 1941 PCCs were equipped with dash lights and in 1948/49 the tread
brakes were replaced by drum brakes.

Kansas City Public Service St.Louis Car Co. PCC (Job 1628; 701-724 series)
- third paint scheme (post 1952).
In
1952 the KSPS introduced the third and final livery of the PCC cars to
eliminate the costly masking required by the earlier style. The attractive
silver trim was abolished at this time. With significiant patronage decline
in early 1950s, all pre-war PCCs were withdrawn in September 1953 and
offered for sale, but were returned to service in 1955 when fourty all-electric
cars were sold to Philadelphia. Despite they were sold to the local salvage
company in December 1955, these cars were used in regular service under
a lease agreement until June 1957 when the streetcars service was ended.
