The Meitetsu 510-series Interurban cars are the most famous among Japanese trams. They had a very long service life and despite many modernizations, retained its classic look until the end.

The 510-series cars were built by Nippon Sharyo company on the license version of the Brill 27MCB-1 trucks. Cars of 520-series, built in 1923, used the trucks imported from United States.

The red and white paint scheme was introduced in 1968 and remained on 510-series cars until the end with the exception of 1980s, when the solid red paint scheme was used.
