ref.136The electric tram operation in Hong Kong started in July 1904 and first double-deck car was appeared in 1912. The Hong Kong Tramways has six partially overlapping services, using 13 km of double track along the north shore of Hong Kong Island between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan and nearly 3 km of single track around Happy Valley. In 1949, Hong Kong Tramways constructed a new type of car and a large order for modify the whole fleet to the new design was placed very soon; in 1986 the trams were reshaped into a more modern styling. By 1998, there are 163 cars in operation, include two open-top tourist cars Nos. 28 and 128.

ref.136aHong Kong Tramways Car No.162 entered service in 1964; as an experiment this car operated in unpainted condition, like London and Glasgow experimental double-deck buses. This tram was later repainted; in 80s this tram received a new-looked body and also an “unpainted” livery for a short time.
