Holland1948/50 Amsterdam Werkspoor 3-axle Tram (491-550 series)

ref131Between 1948 and 1950 Amsterdam received 60 3-axle motor cars (numbered 491-550) and 50 trailers from the Werkspoor company for renew its old fleet. The trucks were built under license of Swiss SLM company. The front door was too narrow for passenger use and it was restricted to the crew. The very stylish trams were rebuild in 1957 and in the following years the roof sign box was enlarged and doors were changed. After arrival of the first articulated trams in 1956 the 3-axle sets were used mainly on the lighter routes and first tram was scrapped in 1973 and all were withdrawn from everyday service in 1975 but because of increasing of traffic 20 sets were return to service between 1976 and 1978. In May 1979 Amsterdam say the last 'Good Bye" to its 3-axle trams and in 1980 all cars were scrapped, exclude six sets.

HollandGermany 1981 RET Rotterdam Duewag ZGT 700-series Articulated Tramcar

ref.147In 1981 first modern articulated tram 701, built by Duewag in Germany, was delivered to Rotterdam. This car, called as ZGT, had a very attractive styling and unusual design with articulation behind the center bogie. Between 1981 and 1985 fifty articulated cars of 700-series were delivered to the city and 50 shortest cars of 800-series with similar design were built between 1984 and 1988.
