USA1929/30 West Penn Railways Co. Valley Route Cincinnati Car Co. Curved-side Car (831-842 series)

In 1929 West Penn Railways Co. ordered twelve Curved-side cars from Cincinnati Car Co. for use on Allegheny Valley Street Railway connecting Aspenwall, New Kensington, Tarentum and Natrona on the Allegheny River north-east of Pittsburgh. They were built at end of they year and were delivered to West Penn system early in 1930. They were the last Curved-side cars built by Cincinnati Car Co. Wheels on these lightweight cars were only 22" diameter. These modern cars served the Valley Route until May 1937 when the highway project forced that line out of existence. The cars were transferred to Connellsville.

USA1929 West Penn Railways Co. Cincinnati Car Co. Curved-side Car (831-842 series) - Coke Region livery.

In 1937 twelve 830-series cars were transferred to Connellsville. During the war, 830-series cars were operated on the "back" line from Connellsville to Uniontown (and also on Latrobe-Hecla and Greensburg-Larimer). The stiffering above the anticlimbers were added to prevent damage from higher cars like the 700s. The "Valley Route" lettering remained on the letterboard on most cars until the end with exception of two cars (832 and 839 received regular West Penn Railways Co. lettering). They run until August 9, 1952. Car 832 now preserved at Arden Trolley Museum.

USA1916/1925 West Penn Railways Co. 707-739 series Interurban Car.

The West Penn Railways Company was the result of the merger as many as 34 independent local trolley companies operated in region east of Pittsburgh. The bulk of West Penn Railway service during the greater part of its existence was provided by the 700-series center door interurban cars. In 1910 the company ordered the experimental centre-entrance car from Cincinnati Car Co., numbered 700 (it was destoyed by fire in December 1929), and between 1912 and 1925 thirty-nine cars of the same design were built both by Cincinnati Car Co. and in the West Penn's Connellsville Shops, being numbered 701-739. In 1933 all cars except 701 and 702 were rebuilt to the one-man specification by adding a front entrance. The 700-series cars had a modified version of the Brill 27-E1 trucks with the magnetic track brake. Car 739 was the last car to operate, on August 10, 1952. Bodies of cars 722 and 739 were preserved by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum at Arden, PA.

*) Portable headlight included within the model and could be installed by Customer.
