USA 1947 Marmon-Herrington TC-40 Trolleybus (San Francisco Municipal Railway 526-549 series).

422In 1947 Muni placed its first trolley coach order with Marmon-Herrington company. Twenty-five model TC-40 trolleybuses arrived in 1947 and were the only 40-seat models produced by Marmon. Known as "Baby Marmons", they were numbered 526-549 and were intended to convert the 22 Fillmore line but were used on other routes until the conversion of the Fillmore route was completed. Byu 1954, with arrivals of larger TC-44 and TC-48 models, TC-40s were used only as Seals Stadium trippers and were out of service by end of 50s. Two coaches, Nos.530 and 536 were preserved.

USA 1951/52 Marmon-Herrington TC-49 Trolleybus (CTA Chicago, 9413-9761 series) - 50s/60s livery (Everglades green & Croydon cream).

422In 1951 Chicago Transit Authority placed a largest single trolley coach order in the US history to the Marmon-Herrington company which offered a very attractive price on such a large lot of vehicles. At total, 349 big trolley coaches of TC-49 model (49 seats) were delivered in 1951 and 1952, numbered 413-761 in the CTA roster (in 1952 they were renumbered 9413-9761). With new trolley coaches in hands, CTA resumed its conversion program in 1951 and four new lines began service that year: 81-Lawerence, 53-Pulaski, 54-Cicero and 65-Grand. Marmons were a mainstay of the Chicago system in the 50s and 60s. In March 1973 last three trolley coach lines (North, Pulaski and Cicero) were converted to diesel buses. In 1974, 124 of the CTA Marmons were sold to Guadalajara, coaches 9553 and 9631 are preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum.

USA 1948 Toronto Transportation Commission Marmon-Herrington TC-48 Trolleybus (9125-9139 series; ex-Cincinnati, acq. in 1953)

468In 1953, TTC acquired 15 Marmon-Herrington TC-48 trolley coaches from Cincinnati (built in 1948), they were extensively refurbished in the TTC workshop and received fleet numbers 9125-9139. Toronto's Marmoms outlasted all the Brilles, they had Westinghouse electrical equipment, and TTC used only GE equipment on its new Flyer trolley coaches. The last Marmon operated in revenue service in Toronto in June 1972.

USA 1950/51 Marmon-Herrington TC-48 Trolleybus (San Francisco Municipal Railway 740-849 series).

470San Francisco Municipal Railway purchased 380 new trolley coaches between 1947 and 1952, most of them were a Marmon-Herrington products, a new trolley coach builder, entered a market in 1946 with absolutely new model. Its lightweight features, monocoque airplane-type body construction, double girder sidewalls and extreme strength made it the best selling trolley coach of the post war era. In 1950-51 Muni received their order for 110 48-seat coaches, model TC-48. Coaches 740-789 were GE-equipped and coaches 790-849 has WH equipment. The new TC-48s were used for the 1950-51 trolley coach conversion programm. Muni trolley coaches, as well as post war streetcars, also incorporated an unusual design of the deadman pedal. The 740-849 group remained in service until 1977.

USA 1948/49 Marmon-Herrington TC-44 Trolleybus (San Francisco Municipal Railway 550-569; 660-739 series).

459The "medium" Marmons, model TC-44, numbered 550-569 and 660-739 came to San Francisco in 1948 and 1949. These 100 trolley coaches were GE-equipped and were ordered for huge 1949 Muni trolley coach conversion program.
